Posts Tagged ‘How to fix the National Debt’

YYAYYYY, the government isn’t going to shut down after all! AND they’re going to save us money with over ONE TRILLION DOLLARS worth of budget cuts. YIPPEE!

And thank God. As the mother of a U.S.  Marine who might have had to relinquish his salary after having served our country in Iraq FOUR TIMES, not to mention all of the other places he’s been, AND the fact that he is STILL a Marine, I would have raged like a lioness whose cubs were in danger.

Many of our service men and women have families to support! And the government was going to take that away from them?

Anyway, instead of the U.S. government owing over $14 trillion, we will now owe only $13 trillion! Thrilling.

But wait! As our National Debt increases at a rate of $4.08 billion PER DAY, won’t we be right back where we started in less than a decade? Then what?

HOW did our National Debt get to be so bad? And WHY are we not responsible with our money?

Another thing, why are we so doggedly playing the blame game? Our budget crisis is NOT something that began during the Obama administration. Nobody on this planet or in this solar system will convince me that Obama racked up $14 trillion worth of debt. The idea is ludicrous.

And before all you Democrats start slapping yourselves on the back, I would like to add that Bush could not possibly have spent even $10 trillion during his administration. The idea that any of our recent presidents could have spent that kind of money is so far out of the range of common sense, I am dumbfounded every time somebody tries to offer proof.

PLEASE! Let’s stop blaming the Democrats and the Republicans. This National Debt problem has been growing for decades. Something should have been done about it long before Bush or Obama came into the presidency. The National Debt is now OUR problem – TOGETHER!

Yes, “together!” The most important part about being a United States citizen is not that we be as divisive as possible, not to fight each other incessantly, and not to adhere, at all costs, to misguided peer mentalities whether they belong to Democrats or Republicans.

I interrupt this blog to bring you an important reminder: We are the UNITED States of America. “United we stand; divided we fall.” Now back to the blog:

So while the Democrats and the Republicans argue about who is right and who is wrong and about how one party is SO MUCH better than the other party, I would like you to ignore their bickering for a moment and click the link that will bring you to our U.S. National Debt Clock.

Astounding, isn’t it? While you pull your jaw back from the floor, I’d like to ask you to please excuse me right now. I’m about to whine about my personal issues.

For most of my adult life, I paid nearly 27% of my measly salary in taxes. That measly salary generally fell into the $17,000 range, but after two decades my salary rose to a non-respectable $30,000, which would have been fine for me alone, but I had  to raise children – alone.

I can’t help but wonder, why doesn’t EVERYBODY pay 27% across the board. If nobody received tax cuts, tax credits, or tax shelters, how much of a dent would that solution make to our national debt?

Big corporations use all kinds of tax breaks and tax credits and pay nothing, I repeat NOTHING! Who else pays nothing in taxes? Oh, yes, our politicians get a free ride with their tax breaks too.

Well, I’m just a piddly little worker, but I’d really like to know why we have such a disparity in this country. As far as I’m concerned, the United States government is raping those of use who can’t even afford to feed our families, while others, who dine in luxury restaurants and who know how to slip through all the tax loopholes in the tax laws, get away with paying NOTHING.

And here’s the kicker – for all of us who paid into the system year after year after year after year, awaiting a time when we could receive our social security, guess what? By the time you get to collect YOUR social security, which used YOUR PAID TAXES to enable you to collect your monthly checks, you get TAXED AGAIN on your PREVIOUSLY TAXED income. How does that even begin to make sense?

And don’t get me started on how generous we’ve been with other nations who turn their backs on us in our time of need. Maybe they’re extending us some “tough love” and thinking that since we got ourselves into this mess, we need to get ourselves out of this mess.

I say let Donald Trump fix our National Debt problem. He seems to have a better handle on money than any of our government administrations.

By the way, here’s a glimpse into how quickly our National Debt rises with each passing hour:
