Virginia Snowstorm: 4-8 Inches More Expected!

On my first visit to Virginia to visit my Marine son who was transferred here from San Diego, I find myself in the middle of what is proving to be a record-breaking snow storm.

For the first time in my life, Southwest Airlines called to canceled my flight, which was supposed to leave today. I rescheduled for tomorrow and things are not looking good for tomorrow either.

In addition to the frustrations of snow that falls at such a fast pace my son has cleared the driveway twice and it looks as if he has done nothing, we are also encountering problems with the electricity.

Trying to set up two computers that would allow us to check in 3 people 24 hours ahead of time has become a pointless activity. The electricity keeps going out.

The one good thing about being here is that I get to spend more time with my son. Well, that was what I thought was going to be great about staying longer. He has spent more time outside shoveling snow than actually being with me, however. And as I look out the window, the snow continues to fall and to fall and to fall and to fall.

Why can’t somebody invent a hose that would propel a mixture of salt and water designed to melt snow without causing ice? And why can’t the roads be warmed in the winter to prevent snow from accumulating? Just a thought.
